6 Personal Life Lessons

Updated: Jan 21, 2019

Today, I would like to share with you some of my very personal lessons I have learned in life. This could be a never-ending list because it feels like anytime I get comfortable, life decides to show me things from a different perspective. When I get comfortable in thinking life is figured out, something will come along the way to show me otherwise. This is what truly keeps me on my toes, and pushes me to keep going. After all, life is all about learning and never stopping because the moment you do, you stop growing. Remember that everything on this list is nothing more than my own experiences from my own life, and own stories.

1. People will come and go out of your life.

This is true beyond words. There will always be people who come and go, and the ones who stay. It is important to not become bitter when people decide to leave because sometimes it’s exactly how things are supposed to be. Be grateful for the precious time that you got to share, and all the lessons that you were able to learn. Learn to let go and be okay with how things turned out.

2. There is a difference between loving someone, and being in love with someone.

There is a different type of love for different people, and that love will come in many different forms. We can choose to love many people in our life, but we can’t be in love with all of them.

3. People will always have their own idea of you.

Learn to separate your own expectations of yourself, and the ones that people have for you.

Never let other negative opinions bring you down because after all their own idea should not have anything to do with influencing yours. Unless it is truly something beneficial to making you the person you want to be.

4. You will learn who your people are in desperate times.

People might tell you that you can always count on them until you actually need them. The beauty in this is the fewer people the fewer influencers you have around you. When there is a time when you truly need people to be there, it might be a time when your life might change forever. So it is very important to only have the best ones by your side, not to get influenced by people who aren't supposed to be there. You can become your own identity by having less negative opinions shaping your world.

5. There is always a journey that will change you forever.

There will be a lot of things that change us in our lifetime, but you know your life will change forever when you can’t go back to the way things once were. When everything you have ever believed in gets stripped away within a moment. Embrace that moment, and become grateful for everything you have. This will be a moment when we must learn to enjoy the journey and the new way of living.

6. Don’t wait for others to handle your business.

If you wait for others to handle your business, you will wait forever. It will always be done best when it is done by you because no one else can do what you expect. Waiting for other people to start something you have always wanted to will be a waste of your time. Relying on them can be the biggest set up for failure.
